About Laura...
I took up Pilates over twenty years ago, as a way of addressing the discomfort I was experiencing from an old injury. I was so impressed with the rate and level at which my discomfort reduced, that I had to know more!
Although it is often thought of as a 'core'/abdominal workout, Pilates is essentially a whole-body method that encourages an holistic approach to well-being. This is why I am so passionate about it. During my years of experience I have worked with a variety of clients - those with chronic back issues, auto-immune conditions (arthritis, fibromyalgia, lupus, etc.), osteopenia/osteoporosis, injuries, pre and post natal, mobility issues, general fitness and wellbeing - and they have all reported an improvement in their wellbeing as a result of applying these principles.
"Contrology develops the body uniformly, corrects wrong postures, restores physical vitality, invigorates the mind and elevates the spirit."
Joseph Pilates ,'Return to Life', 1945
Having always been drawn to the holistic approach, alongside my study of movement, I continued to develop my understanding and experience of nature centred practices, energetics, mindfulness and meditation. As I incorporated all of these aspects into my own life, I also noticed a shift in my mental and emotional well-being, as well as improved immunity.
For as long as I can recall I have been highly sensitive to the various energies around me. My own practice, alongside working with others, has taught me that there is an undeniable connection between mind, body and soul (energy). Often, physical and/or emotional symptoms are a supportive message that something needs our attention. (For a fuller explanation, see the 'Reiki & Energy Treatments' page.)
Energetics are an essential component of our overall health, alongside mental and physiological practices. An holistic approach is crucial for improving and maintaining well-being. It has made a huge difference to my own life so I am passionate about sharing what I've learned over the years. My intention is always to encourage and enable others to understand how to help themselves, so they may continue to experience the benefits outside of a session.
